On Thursday 18th June, 2020 the ropax CRUISE BONARIA reported a cargo deck fire. The accident occurred upon her arrival at Olbia, Sardegna from Livorno (mainland Italy). The fire erupted in a refrigerator truck and was caused by a shortcut. Reportedly, thick black smoke billowed from the vehicle deck and up to the upper decks.

Vigili Del Fuoco and Guardia Costiera emergency teams boarded the ship to assist the crew with fire fighting. She was carrying 150 passengers and safely berthed at 1830 UTC. No injures or major damages were reported.

CRUISE BONARIA was temporarily taken out of service and remained docked at Port Olbia through 22nd June restarting again her Livorno-Olbia route.

Featured images are while she was drydocked at Palumbo Malta Shipyard back to October 2019.
