On Tuesday 4th October, 2016 the towage of the semi submersible drilling rig (ssdr) ENSCO 6000 by the Japanese built tug RED EAGLE was photographed from the air by MALTA SHIP PHOTOS (MSPAP) underway to breakers at Aliaga in Turkey.
ENSCO 6000 was built in Netherlands by Scheepswerf De Hoop Lobith at Tolkamer as the AMETHYST in 1987 trading until March 2004 and PRIDE SOUTH AMERICA until July 2012 by Pride International as a rig that could be operated in water depths of 3,300 ft and drill down to about 25,000 ft.

RED EAGLE was built in Japan by Matsuura Iron Shipbuilding at Osakikamijima as SIROCCO in 1976 for the famous Dutch Salvage Company – International Transport Contactors (ITC) BV. In July 2011 she was sold to ATA Tug & Salvage and renamed as IZMIR BULL and later to her current name.

On 1st April 2016, ENSCO 6000 was sold for scrap value circa for $1 million and 6 months later she was towed to her last voyage.
