During the annual Clean Up the World Campaign, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) always take part. Back to September 1994 , 62 AFM Personnel of the 1st Regiment Charlie Company embarked on a 3 day exercise which included abseiling clearing weeds, shrubs on the bastion walls.
The President at that time Dr. Ugo Mifsud Bonnici thanked AFM Commander Brigadier Claude Gaffiero and stated that people should better appreciate Malta’s cultural heritage. It was a special request made by the President himself who visited the place accompanied by the Environment Parliament Secretary Dr. Stanley Zammit.
