On the evening of Monday 22nd July the Malta Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) coordinated the rescue of 3 crew members from aboard the 2007 built Crude Oil Tanker LILLESAND who required medical assistance after they lost consciousness due to being stuck in a hydrocarbon tank that was anchored OPL Malta – 18.1 nautical miles from the airfield.

The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) said a doctor was flown to the tanker via AW139 Helicopter to assist the 3 crew members, who were then airlifted to Malta  in a medevac operation for hospital treatment.
