One of the Anti Piracy Vessels based in Malta of which everyone thinks that she’s a former naval vessel is the Japanese built 22 metre vessel AL 345.

She was first seen berthed at Dock 7 , MMH Facilities back to June 2013 and homeported at Plymouth (GBR Flag).

She was built in Japan by Yokohama Yacht Co Ltd (YYK) in September 1985 as yard number S-842-2 and was commissioned to the Royal Omani Police in 1988 as DHEEB AL BAHAR II.

Her displacement is 65 tons while her range is 420 miles at 30 knots powered by 2 MTU Diesel Engines.

Currently her homeport is Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia (MNG Flag).

2 Interesting Facts are that she’s the second commercial vessel built by YKK based in Malta and her sister, the former Royal Omani Police Patrol Craft DHEEB AL BAHAR III was spotted last 22nd January at Portsmouth, UK with MNG flag too.

Agents for MTU Engines in Malta are Melita Power Diesel, part of Melita Marine Group – https://melitamarinegroup.net/ which they are our SPONSORS too.
