May is here and Blue Fin Tuna (BFT) Season is here with Italian fishing stern trawlers coming from Sicily to tow tuna cages from various spots that belong to Licensed Tuna Farms –
Thursday 19th May, 2022 – 1999 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler NATALINO with fishing matricola MV 409 of which entered Grand Harbour at 1303 hrs coming from Portopalo berthing at MMH Facilities.
Friday 20th May, 2022 – 1999 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler LEOVITO with fishing matricola MV 349 of which entered Grand Harbour at 0830 hrs coming from Mazara del Vallo berthing at Flagstone Wharf to uplift bunkers. Then she left at 1439 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour, entering at 1545 hrs. She left harbour for fishing grounds towing a cage at 1815 hrs.
1972 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler BUCEFALO with fishing matricola MV 312 of which entered Grand Harbour at 0847 hrs coming from Mazara del Vallo berthing at DWQ 4 to uplift bunkers. Then she left at 1051 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour, entering at 1158 hrs. She left harbour for fishing grounds towing a cage at 1400 hrs.
2005 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler MARPESCA DUE with fishing matricola MV 398 of which entered Grand Harbour at 0853 hrs coming from Mazara del Vallo berthing at DWQ 4 to uplift bunkers. Then she left at 1053 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour, entering at 1200 hrs. She left harbour for fishing grounds towing a cage at 1649 hrs.
The 1947 built tug CMS SEACAT left Grand Harbour from her berth at Bridge Wharf wearing a red hull (same colour like she was when she was named as COSTALES SEGUNDO) at 0948 hrs bound to North of Marsascala, Malta to tow a cage and then off to fishing grounds.
