May is here and Blue Fin Tuna (BFT) Season is here with interesting Turkish fishing vessels coming to tow tuna cages from various spots that belong to Licensed Tuna Farms –
Saturday 21st May, 2022.
1453 hrs – 1993 built TUR flag purse seiner SUAYIP KETENCI with fishing matricola 34A 4901 entered Grand Harbour coming from Dikili, Turkey berthing at Magazine Wharf.
Few minutes later she loaded the purse seine net.
1605 hrs – The 2004 built MLT flag stern fishing trawler DEGRE left Grand Harbour from her berth at Bridge Wharf bound to North of Marsascala, Malta to tow a cage and then off to fishing grounds.
1707 hrs – The 1987 built LBY flag purse seiner EL HADER 2 left Grand Harbour from Church Wharf.
1709 hrs – The 1975 built LBY flag purse seiner AL HARES 2 left Grand Harbour from Church Wharf.
1720 hrs – The 1977 built LBY flag purse seiner NAWASI ALKIR 1 left Grand Harbour from Church Wharf.
Sunday 22nd May, 2022.
0623 hrs – The 1993 built ITA flag purse seiner ALDO coming from Ortona, Italy entered Grand Harbour berthing at DWQ 1 and then left to fishing grounds at 1130 hrs.
0732 hrs – The 1988 built MLT flag fishing support vessel BUDAFELL leaving Grand Harbour bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour.
1234 hrs – The 2000 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner SAINT SOPHIE FRANCOISE III entered Grand Harbour coming from Sete, France berthing at DWQ 4.
1244 hrs – The 2002 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner SAINT SOPHIE FRANCOISE II entered Grand Harbour coming from Sete, France berthing at DWQ 4 alongside the III. Interesting to see both vessels with 2 skifs since last year instead of 1 with their stern modified.
Monday 23rd May, 2002.
0641 hrs – The 2000 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler ELEONORA RUTA entered Grand Harbour coming from Pozzallo berthing at DWQ 1. She left harbour at 0837 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour arriving an hour later and left MX towing a cage at 1512 hrs bound North of Sicily.
0645 hrs – The 2000 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler VINCENZO RUTA entered Grand Harbour coming from Pozzallo berthing at DWQ 1 alongside ELEONORA RUTA. She left harbour at 0839 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour arriving an hour later and left MX towing a cage at 1613 hrs bound North of Sicily.
0724 hrs – The 1990 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler ALESSANDRO entered Grand Harbour coming from Pozzallo berthing at Fishmarket. She left harbour at 0839 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour arriving an hour later and left MX towing a cage at She left harbour at 1553 hrs bound to offshore Malta freely.
0822 hrs – The 1994 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler FRANCESCO MORETTI entered Grand Harbour coming from Mazara Del Vallo. She left harbour at 0901 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour arriving an hour later and left MX towing a cage at 1745 hrs bound to North of Sicily.
0948 hrs – The 1993 built TUR flag purse seiner SUAYIP KETENCI left Grand Harbour from Laboratory Wharf South 2 bound to St. Paul’s Bay.
1330 hrs – The 1979 built LBY flag fishing support vessel ALNOGOM ALMODIAA 1 left Valletta from Church Wharf for sea trials. She returned back at 1450 hrs.
1610 hrs – The Libyan fishing support vessel TAKNES entered back at Church Wharf coming from Marsaxlokk Harbour.
1724 hrs – The 2002 built LBY flag purse seiner LATHRON left Valletta from Church Wharf for sea trials. She returned back at 1814 hrs.
1816 hrs – The 1989 built LBY flag fishing support vessel ARWA entered Grand Harbour coming from Tripoli, Libya for customs clearance. On Completion she berthed at Church Wharf.
1819 hrs – The 2014 built LBY flag fishing support vessel REMAS entered Grand Harbour coming from Tripoli, Libya for customs clearance. On Completion she berthed at Church Wharf.
Tuesday 24th May, 2022.
0810 hrs – The 1999 built ITA flag stern fishing vessel ANASTASIA RUTA entered Grand Harbour coming from Pozzallo for Customs Clearance. Then she left Harbour at 0851 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour berthing at Delimara Power Station at 1010 hrs.
0813 hrs – The 2001 built ITA flag stern fishing vessel NUOVO TRENTA CARRINI entered Grand Harbour coming from Brindisi for Customs Clearance. Then she left Harbour at 0850 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour berthing at Delimara Power Station at 1014 hrs.
1931 hrs – The 1965 built tugboat MIRKURT left Valletta from Bridge Wharf bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour berthing at Delimara Power Station at 2035 hrs.
Wednesday 25th May,2022.
0902 hrs – The 2020 built 35 metre purse seiner KOROGLU BALIKCILIK A coming from Trabzon, Turkey entered Grand Harbour berthing at DWQ 1 and she left again at 1340 hrs bound to St. Paul’s Bay.
0909 hrs – The 1996 built TUR flag 38 metre purse seiner DURSUN CINAROGLU coming from Babakale, Turkey entered Grand Harbour berthing at DWQ 1 alongside KOROGLU BALIKCILIK A. She left again at 1340 hrs bound to St,. Paul’s Bay.
0911 hrs – The 1970 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler GIULIA P.G coming from Mazara Del Vallo entered Grand Harbour for customs clearance and then she left again at 0959 hrs bound to Marsaxlokk Harbour. (Radio Officer is calling his vessel as tug since she’s going to be engaged in towing cages !!!!) She entered at 1115 hrs berthing at Delimara Power Station at 1136 hrs and leaving again Marsaxlokk Harbour at 1456 hrs bound to fishing grounds.
1002 hrs – The 2005 built ITA flag stern fishing trawler OCEANIA coming from Pozzallo entered Grand Harbour for customs clearance. She left at 1031 hrs bound to fishing grounds.
1355 hrs – The Libyan fishing support vessel AL KAPTAN left Valletta for sea trials and entered back at 1442 hrs back to Church Wharf.
2129 hrs – The 1986 built MLT flag stern fishing trawler LELI left Valletta bound to Offshore Sicily to assist the Italian purse seiner LUIGI PADRE.
Thursday 26th May,2022.
1007 hrs – Tugboat VITTORIOSA entered Grand Harbour towing the disabled purse seiner LUIGI PADRE coming from Cetara, Italy.
1050 hrs – LUIGI PADRE was secured at MMH Facilities assisted by tugboat VITTORIOSA.
