On Friday 6th April 2018 it was reported that the Panama homeported tug MARZAMEMI was beached at the Gadani Shipbreakers Yard.

She was built in 1977 in Denmark by Dannebrog Vaerft A/S at Aarhus under yard number 169 and delivered in 1978 to Em.Z. Svitzer’s Salvage Company Ltd at Copenhagen, Denmark as SVITZER GARM homeported at Copenshagen (DAN Flag). In 1990 she was renamed LANCELOT RANGER and in 1991 she was sold to Rimorchiatori Sardi SpA, Italy and renamed LANCILLOTTO homeported at Cagliari (ITA Flag). During 2001 she was sold again to Italian owners – Augustea Imprese Marittime e di Salvataggi SpA and renamed MARZAMEMI homeported at Augusta (ITA Flag). In 2015 she was sold to Jawar Al Khaleej Shipping LLC at Dubai, United Arab Emirates and homeported at Panama (PAN Flag).

She was 49.03 m long with a beam of 12.45 m and maximum draft of 6.35 m. Maximum Speed was 16 knots with twin Alpha 16U28L-VO diesel engines rated 6,250 kW (8,498 bhp) with 105 tons bollard pull.

She entered twice at Valletta – First time was towing a seismic vessel Hull as HULL 136 from Romania to Norway where she had to enter for technical issues back to April 2005.

And second time was calling for bunkering operations late evening on 1st November, 2012 –
