After being stripped from valuables at Curacao’s container port, Carnival Cruise line oldest ship CARNIVAL FANTASY started her last voyage.

On Thursday 23rd July she passed the straits of Gibraltar to enter the Mediterranean Sea bound to Aliaga for the breakers.

During a press conference on 10th July, 2020, Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald revealed that the company would be removing 13 ships from the fleets of her nine global brands over the coming months. He indicated that those being cut would be the various brands’ older vessels, but didn’t specify which ships those would be. “To reduce our cash burn and have a more efficient fleet once we do resume cruising, we have aggressively shed less efficient ships,” Donald stated. The strategy does explain the demise of CARNIVAL FANTASY, which debuted in 1990 and is now Carnival Cruise Line’s oldest ship.

On Sunday 26th July she was spotted 58.7 nautical miles off Mgarr Harbour, Gozo at 0105 hrs.

On Tuesday 28th July, 2020 morning she arrived at Aliaga anchorage marking her last voyage and the last time to drop anchors.

On Wednesday 29th July early afternoon she was beached next to other cruise liners MONARCH and SOVEREIGN.
