After the semi submersible heavy lift vessel (sshl) YACHT EXPRESS loaded 4 former Italian Navy units at Augusta, Sicily back to August 2021, it was the turn of the sshl SEAWAY ALBATROSS to load more naval units, this time – Maestrale Class Frigates from La Spezia, Italy.
These were the lead ship of her class ITS MAESTRALE F 570 built at Fincantieri, Riva Trigoso as Hull no 875 which was laid down on 8th March 1978, launched on 2nd February 1981 and officially handed over to the Navy (Commissioned) on 18th February 1982.

Her Motto was – VELOCE E VEEMENTE (Fast and Furious) and was decommissioned 15th December 2015.
The second frigate was the 4th one from 8 built – ITS SCIROCCO F 573 that was built at Fincantieri, Riva Trigoso as Hull no 878 which was laid down on 26th February, 1980; launched on 17th April 1982 and commissioned on 20th September 1983.
Both frigates were seen in Malta even during Canale Military Exercises.
Her Motto was – ACRITER IN HOSTES (Harshly into the enemies) and was decommissioned 20th February 2020 and since laid up at La Spezia.
Both Units left La Spezia for the last time on Tuesday 26th March, 2024.
