One of the Norwegian built offshore vessel was the Danish owned offshore tug/supply ship MAERSK BATTLER which was launched on Sunday 16th February, 1997.

She was built by SIMEK at Flekkefjord, Norway as yard number 92 with her keel laid on Monday 5th August 1996, launched on Sunday 16th February, 1997 and completed on Tuesday 13th May, 1997 with a length overall of 84.6 metres. Her Bollard Pull was 230 tonnes while she was powered by 4 MAK 8M32 diesel engines with 20,000 as total BHP.

With a deck area of 660 m2 and deck capacity of 1, 700 tonnes she had 3 x AHT winches – 1 x 500 t + 2 x 400 t drums while she had secondary winch of 170 t. Her Homeport was Frederikshavn, Denmark (DAN Flag).

Her Sister ships were MAERSK BEATER, MAERSK BLAZER and MAERSK BOULDER.

During June 2016 she towed the semi submersible drilling rig (ssdr) SEDCO 702 from Lagos, Nigeria towards Aliaga, Turkey where both ships was the end for them.
