On Saturday 17th April, 2021 the Chinese built 178 metre long bulker OCCITAN SKY left Grand Harbour at 1540 hrs with less than 5 metres away from St. Elmo breakwater.

She was built by New Century Shipbuilding at Jianjing, China in 2004 as CLIPPER MERCURY of which she was renamed in the second week of April 2012 as OCCITAN SKY and homeported at Nassau (BHS Flag).

Though vessel’s master confirmed to Valletta VTS that he will disembark pilot inside due to weather conditions , both tugboats PAWLINA and SEA SALVOR saved her from colliding with St. Elmo breakwater with a dangerous turn especially PAWLINA who started to push her away from the breakwater.

She was berthed at Pinto 4 and 5 wharves, part of Valletta Cruise Port and was assisted by Duty Tugboats PAWLINA and SEA SALVOR.

On Tuesday 20th April she left within territorial waters (wtw) bound to Greece at 1747 hrs.
