On Tuesday 15th February, 2022 the French shipping company Grain de Sail ordered a second cargo sailboat for Transatlantic Shipments and on Tuesday 31st October, 2023 the newly built vessel GRAIN DE SAIL II passed Grand Harbour, Malta breakwaters at 0927 hrs coming from Piriou’s shipyard at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam via Suez Canal and berthed at DWQ 2 Wharf.
She will join her sister GRAIN DE SAIL I that was commissioned in November 2020. GRAIN DE SAIL II will have 350 metric tons (mt)of payload capacity and will ship French wine and other products to the US and bring back coffee, cacao mass and other products from Latin America a voyage that takes more or less around 2 weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
On Thursday 2nd November she shifted to Lab Wharf South 1 at 1830 hrs due to a cruise liner call and shifted back again to her berth on Friday 3rd November at 2015 hrs. Meanwhile she took stores/provisions while uplifted bunkers.
Then on Monday 6th November, 2023 at 0657 hrs she left Valletta bound to Almeria, Spain of which at the time of writing she’s underway to Lisbon, Portugal.
