Transhipment refer to logistics and transportation to facilitate the transfer of cargo or goods from one mode of transportation to another and is a fundamental component of intermodal transportation, where cargo is transferred between of which Valletta Gateway Terminals (VGT) boosts exceptional car compound facilities located at Laboratory Wharf

The third Car Equivalent Unit (CEU) transhipment for this year was done on 24th September and yesterday 8th October where 700  cars were discharged.

The first ship was the 2023 German built 210 metre roro ABU SAMRAH of which she passed breakwaters at 1013 hrs of Tuesday 24th September, 2024 coming from Djen Djen, Algeria.

She was built in Germany by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaff with yard no 782 as TENNOR OCEAN for IVP Ship Invest Ltd, Netherlands in 2023 homeported at Majuro, Marshall Islands (MHL Flag) and since 1st April 2023 with her current name managed by United Arab Emirates shipping company.

She left Valletta later on at 1921 hrs bound to Toulon, France and discharged 700 Fiat Model cars.

And yesterday Tuesday 8th October , the 1998 built 99.9 metre vehicles carrier ERK IZMIR passed breakwaters at 0703 hrs coming from Taranto, Italy during her maiden call.

She was assisted by tugboat SEA SALVOR like the roro ship ABU SAMRAH.

She was built in Germany by Detlef Hegemann Rolandweft at Berne with yard no 184 as FEEDERMATE in 1998  homeported at Madeira, Portugal, renamed as MAIN HIGHWAY operating for K Line until December 2022 and renamed as WON SHIN homeported at Panama (PAN Flag) until April 2024, sold again and renamed with her current name managed by Turkish Company.

She left Valletta bound to Taranto, Italy once again passing breakwaters 1548 hrs.
