Transhipment refer to logistics and transportation to facilitate the transfer of cargo or goods from one mode of transportation to another and is a fundamental component of intermodal transportation, where cargo is transferred between of which Valletta Gateway Terminals (VGT) boosts exceptional car compound facilities located at Laboratory Wharf

The second Car Equivalent Unit (CEU) transhipment for this year which involved 3 car Carriers was done during Q 3 of 2024.

First to enter was the 2005 South Korean built Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) HOEGH BERLIN , that passed breakwaters at 0651 hrs on Thursday 19th September.

With overhanging of 40 metres she was berthed at Magazine Wharf while discharging cars.

While she was berthed even a lifeboat drill was conducted –

She left the next day on Friday 20th September at 1104 hrs.

The second ship to call was the 1999 built car carrier SEA CARYATIS during her maiden call and the latest acquisition for Mediterranean Car Carrier Line SA (MCCL) who passed breakwaters at 1904 hrs on Thursday 19th September berthing at Laboratory Wharf inner.

She left Valletta on Friday 20th September at 0026 hrs bound to Koper Slovenia.

And the final ship was the oldest – 1985 built 176 m car carrier SEA PATRIS which called on Sunday 22nd September , passing breakwaters at 0940 hrs berthing at Magazine Wharf.

She left on Monday 23rd September at 0327 hrs bound to La Goulette, Tunisia.
