The 1985 built anchor handling tug/supply ship BRITISH MAGNUS was due to leave Valletta, Malta on Thursday 27th July 1995 caught fire around 1500 hrs. Vessel was detained due to SOLAS inefficiencies on the 24th July.

Malta Police Fire Brigade together with the SAG Rescue Team Personnel rushed to the vessel that was berthed at Crucifix Wharf and four crew members were seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Two tugboats CETTA and FELICA was standby with the vessel and none of them was used of which the fire was under control around 0600 hrs on Friday 28th July 1995.

Vessel was shifted later in August to Cassar Ship Repair Yard of which after repairs were done she left Grand Harbour on Thursday 5th October 1995.

She was built at Marystown Shipyard in Canada as the BALDER CABOT serving 4 years and renamed BRITISH MAGNUS in 1985 and served until 1998 when she was sold to the Australian Navy and renamed her as SEAHORSE STANDARD of which she stopped at Malta on her delivery voyage on Thursday 10th December 1998 at the old Medserv Base situated at Manoel Island, Marsamxett Harbour.
