On Saturday 28th August, 2021 evening the High Speed Craft SAN GWANN belonging to the German shipping company FRS was en route from Ibiza to Formentera when she ran aground on the islet of Es Malvins Pla , Ibiza. There were 35 passengers and 12 crew members on board and 25 personnel were injured including a 10 yo boy who was airlifted to hospital and admitted to the paediatric ICU of Hospital Universitari Son Espases.

Built by Kvaerner Fjellstrand AS at Omastrand, Norway in 2001 she does the 30 minute journey between Ibiza and Formentera with up to 427 passengers.

On Tuesday 31st August, 2021 a salvage operation was successfully done of which she was refloated around 2200 hrs and was safely towed by 2 tugs supervised by Ardentia Marine Salvage Team and berthed at Ibiza Port on Wednesday 1st September, 2021 around 0100 hrs.
