The second corpse from the 3 crew lost with the tragedy of the wooden fishing vessel NUOVA ISIDE was found this morning, Saturday 16th May.
Guardia Costiera confirmed after the 1988 built ITA flag and owned ropax ANTONELLO DA MESSINA that runs from Palermo to Ustica and vice versa sighted a drifting lifeless body around 14 miles north of Capo Gallo.
The corpse was recovered by the Guardia Costiera CP 300 Class – CP303 which transferred the body to the Port of Terrasini for an autopsy ordered by the duty Magistrate. Body was of the Captain Matteo Lo Iacono of 53 years.
The search continue including 3 Guardia Costiera Patrol Craft , Guardia Costiera ATR 42 with a AW139 helicopter from the 15th Wing of Aeronautica Militare based at Birgi Base.
