On the afternoon of Friday 12th March, 2021 the MSC Cruise ship MSC LIRICA caught fire whilst berthed at Corfu, Greece.

The fire blaze seemed to be originated in an empty lifeboat on deck 6 on starboard side and there were no injuries among the 51 crew members who were on board to maintain the ship. There were no passengers on board.
Various tugboats including the 1975 built tug CHRISTOS XXV from Spanapoulos ; 1985 built tug IOANNIS from Markezinis Shipping Co ; landing craft type passenger ship GRIGORIS M and other craft helped the fire fighters in the fire fighting operation that lasted till around 1630 hrs local time.
