On Saturday 28th September, 2024 the passenger boat MIDAS EXPRESS reported to Valletta VTS that off St.Julian’s there’s a small boat by the name of CAPTAIN SMITH sinking around 1045 hrs.

Meanwhile Valletta VTS called the Civil Protection Department (CPD) fireboat MANUCCA who was returning to her base from the south of Malta and proceeded to MIDAS EXPRESS position off Pembroke at 1058 hrs.

Less than 10 minutes later doing over 31 knots, MANUCCA was next to MIDAS EXPRESS

The boat was found and the only person that was onboard was rescued by Transport Malta (TM) Marine Enforcement Unit (MEU) rib ER 1 and no medical assistance was required.

Few minutes later it was agreed that the boat CAPTAIN SMITH will be towed by MIDAS EXPRESS to Bahar ic-Caghaq with TM rib only available for an hour
