One of the earliest 19th century Dorman Long Hand Operated Crane is still preserved in Malta, nowadays at St. Angelo Wharf part of Grand Harbour Marina. So far it is unsure how the crane arrived to Malta and used to be at the Maritime Squadron, Haywharf Base of the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) as seen below.

Dorman Long was founded in 1875 orginally based in Middlesbrough, Northeast England and so far still operating after 145 years.

In the 2000’s it was donated to the Maritime Museum at Vittoriosa and used to be situated opposite the Museum.

Images back to September 2012.

And in 2019 she was spotted at St. Angelo Wharf beneath Fort St. Angelo Entrance.
