Today on Friday 16th October, 2020 the Maltese authorities did not let any passengers from disembarking to shore from the cruise liner MSC GRANDIOSA over a suspected case of COVID-19 according to Tourism Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli.

Although she entered Grand Harbour at 0615 hrs with her last port of call was Palermo, berthing at Valletta Cruise Port Pinto 1 and 2 wharves no passengers were allowed to disembark. There was no immediate comment from MSC Cruises, which operates the vessel. Cruise ships were home to the some of the earliest clusters of COVID-19 as the pandemic disease spread globally early this year and the cruise industry has been devastated by the fallout. She left harbour at 1144 hrs bound to Genoa, Italy.
