With the current  winds that is strong at times on exposed areas of the Maltese Islands Cruise Liner Scheduled port of calls were hampered and automatically they had to call to other ports in Sicily.

On Sunday 28th April the 326 metre cruise liner NORWEGIAN ESCAPE had to cancel her scheduled call at Valletta and instead she anchored off Augusta, Sicily for uplifting bunkers at 1620 hrs before heading to Messina of which she entered this morning (30th April) at 0701 hrs.

Then on Monday 29th April, story was repeated again with strong winds and unfavorable current conditions ensured that the liner MEIN SCHIFF 2 turned away shortly before the harbor entrance around 0545 hrs  local time and thus moved away from Malta again. Due to the weather conditions, the bridge crew made the decision to paint the port. An alternative port will not be visited, but today will be incorporated into the itinerary as an additional day at sea.  She is now heading towards her next port of call at Catania giving eta of 0545 hrs.

Meanwhile the 184 passengers French owned cruise liner LE BOUGAINVILLE entered this afternoon at 1215 hrs with Harbour Pilot embarking outside breakwaters with local tug standby.
