One of the Princess Cruises liners built in Italy is the EMERALD PRINCESS.

EMERALD PRINCESS berthed at Pinto 4 and 5 wharves, Valletta Cruise Port at Grand Harbour, Malta back to 6th June 2015.

She was launched from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri Monfalcone on 1st June, 2006 after she was ordered on 23rd September 2004 costing $500 million USD. She was handed over on 24th March, 2007 and christened on 13th May, 2007 in Greece on Mother’s Day.

She started 12 day Mediterranean & Greek Islands Cruises from April 2007 and continued sailing Europe during Summer 2007. She was then re positioned in Fort Lauderdale in fall to offer Caribbean Cruises, Back to 17th May, 2011 the ship sustained considerable damage to several lifeboats when a fuel loading barge collided with the side of the ship while berthed at St. Petersburg Port, Russia. After inspection by authorities, it was determined that the ship still had enough passenger space in an emergency using inflatable life rafts, and the ship continued on her planned itinerary.

EMERALD PRINCESS is usually based in Europe in the summer and in the United States in the winter. Reports in May 2020 indicated that there had been no confirmed COVID-19 cases on this vessel[which was docked in Florida as of 9th May 2020. Some days earlier, it had been denied permission to dock at Nassau, Bahamas but by that time, she had only crew members.
