One of the 7 Austal built High Speed Craft Auto Express 86 that called at Grand Harbour, Malta during her delivery voyage was the 1999 built CARMEN ERNESTINA calling on Friday 16th July, 1999 berthing at Pinto 1 wharf, VISET (Now Valletta Cruise Port) on her way to Venezuela.
Built as Hull 95 with 86.6 metres loa, 24 metres beam and draft of 3.2 metres she had 800 passenger capacity. Her car deck could carry 215 cars or 10 coaches + 125 cars. Her maximum deadweight (dwt) was 400 tonnes with 30 Crew.
Her propulsion is – 4 main engines Caterpillar 3618 of 7,200kW @ 1,050rpm with 4 Gearboxes Reintjes VLJ 6831 with 4 Waterjets KaMeWa 112 s 11 giving a maximum speed of 42 knots.
