On Friday 12th January, 2024 the 2023 built Multi Purpose Offshore Vessel ARMADA 78 05 passed Valletta breakwaters at 2009 hrs (LT) coming from her Vung Tau, Vietnam builders via Suez Canal.
Homeported at Singapore (SGP Flag) , she’s the second vessel from her company to be within territorial waters of Malta. Built by VARD, a Fincantieri company at their Vung Tau Shipyard as Vard 9 60 ship design , she left Vietnam last Monday 11th December, 2023.
She called at Male, Maldives on Thursday 21st December, 2023 and on Boxing Day she left the country bound to Suez Canal to start her transit to the Mediterranean Sea of which she arrived at the Suez Canal anchorage on Sunday 7th January,2024 at 0840 hrs (UTC) and completed the next day at 1431 hrs (UTC).
Her system is Hybrid of which as the the name suggests, she’s designed and constructed to use a combination of alternate means of propulsion mainly from a conventional gas or fuel-powered engine and also, from electrical sources derived from rechargeable means like batteries with BUS Voltage of 720-1000 VDC.
Her length overall (loa) is 78 m with 15.44 m as beam while her call sign is 9V8702 and with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Classification Society with DP2 capability to support operations of Ocean
Infinity’s fleet of ROV’s, seabed drills and CPT systems. She has a removable aft bulwark enabling over the stern deployment of the Ocean Infinity AUV fleet. The moonpool is fitted with a modular Launch And Recovery System (LARS) that is fully automated and remotely operable from Ocean Infinity’s RCC network.
The ARMADA A 78 Class lean-crewed robotic vessel has been designed to offer a multirole capability within her size and capacity and can support a range of subsea equipment from hull mounted geophysical sensors and towed equipment to ROV’s and large geotechnical subsea drills.
She left Valletta bound to Esbjerg, Denmark on Sunday 14th January, passing breakwaters at 1715 hrs (LT).
