The project aims to remove tonnes of silt and other sediment from the seabed in the inner part of Grand Harbour to make it more accessible to larger vessels. In fact on Saturday 3rd September she was spotted dredging at Coal Wharf of which the floating dock NAZLAB was shifted to Fuel Wharf.

The works have a total cost of €7 million (US$6.96 million). GRANE R left Valletta on Sunday 4th September at 1901 hrs bound to Figueira da Foz at Portugal from where she came from.
