On Monday 25th April, 2022 the 2011 built anchor handling tug EDT AEOLUS towing the 2001 built semi submersible heavy load carrier FJELL was photographed from the air by MALTA SHIP PHOTOS around 35 nautical miles offshore Malta.

EDT AEOLUS was built in Romania by Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries SA at Mangalia with yard number 6003 in 2010 as TRITON COMMANDER. In 2011 she was sold to Aeolus Harms Offshore and renamed AEOLUS and later on she was acquired by Fairplay Schleppdampfschiffsreederei Richard Borchard GmbH, Hamburg, Germany and renamed as FAIRPLAY 33.

As FAIRPLAY 33 back to October, 2018

She is 48.88 metres long with 13.80 metres beam and a draught of 7 metres. She’s powered by 2 MAN-B&W Diesel Engines that develop a total output of 8,160 bhp with a cruising speed of 15 knots and 103 tons bollard pull. And in February, 2022 she started trading as EDT AEOLUS.

FJELL is definitely not a new face for MALTA SHIP PHOTOS. She was built in China by Jinling Shipyard at Nanjing in 2001 as the deck cargo barge BOABARGE 20. On the 25th May, 2007 she entered Grand Harbour, Malta towed by MICKLYN MAGNITOR (later renamed as BOA MAGNITOR) as FAIRMOUNT FJELL with Fairmount Heavy Transport,. On 10th October she entered Dock 7 for conversion into a semi submersible vessel here in Malta renamed as FJELL a year later with Fairstar Heavy Transport and after sea and submerging trials during May 2009 she loaded her first cargo of 135 metres.

After laid up for more than 3 years at Eleusis, Greece it was decided that she will be towed for engine overhauling and conversion into a rock dumping vessel for a project in Singapore.
