Maltese aquaculture produce is almost entirely exported to European and Asian markets. Over 65 percent of annual landings originates from the tuna and dolphin fish fisheries, which contribute about 56 percent in value terms (about US$ 6 million). Blue Fin Tuna (BFT) Season is on the way too.

0006 hrs – The 2002 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner SAINT SOPHIE FRANCOISE II entered Grand Harbour, berthing at DWQ 1 while at 0010 hrs her sistership SAINT SOPHIE FRANCOISE III followed her.
0012 hrs – The 1992 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN III entered Grand Harbour, berthing at DWQ 1.
0036 hrs – The 2003 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN VII entered Grand Harbour, berthing at DWQ 1.
0040 hrs – The 2002 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN VI entered Grand Harbour, berthing at DWQ 1.
0043 hrs – The 1994 built FRA flag and owned purse seiner JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN IV entered Grand Harbour, berthing at DWQ 1 alongside JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN III.
0622 hrs – The 1976 built MLT flag and owned tugboat SEA BULL involved in Blue Fin Tuna (BFT) entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Wine Wharf for customs clearance and left again at 0822 hrs.
0707 hrs – The 2019 converted trawler MOHAMED USAMA now trading as the fisheries support vessel LBY flag and owned AL KAPTAN entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Wine Wharf for customs clearance and left again at 0804 hrs.
0712 hrs – The 2005 built ITA flag and owned wooden stern trawler OCEANIA entered Grand Harbour coming from Licata, berthing at Wine Wharf for customs clearance and left again at 0806 hrs for Marsaxlokk Harbour to berth at Elbros Quay.
1011 hrs – The 2019 converted trawler EMIRATES now trading as the fisheries support vessel LBY flag and owned NASSEEP entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Wine Wharf for customs clearance and left again at 1206 hrs.
1218 hrs – The 2004 built MLT flag and owned stern trawler DEGRE entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds.
1304 hrs – The 1995 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner HACI MUSTAFA KULOGLU entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1305 hrs – The 1994 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner FATOGLU KARDESLER 2 entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1307 hrs – The 2003 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner MAMULI BALIKCILIK entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1310 hrs – The 2000 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner MAMULI REIS III entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1310 hrs – The 2007 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner FAT BALIKCILIK entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1314 hrs – The 2004 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner DENIZER entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf.
1317 hrs – The 2005 built TUR flag and owned fish carrier AQUA GROUP 2 entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at Magazine Wharf. She’s the formerly Greek Purse Seiner AIGAON that used to be seen in Malta too during the BFT Season.
1336 hrs – The 2009 built MLT flag and owned longliner AL BASEL entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds.
Later from 2121 to 2147 hrs 7 other Turkish fishing vessels entered Grand Harbour and berthed at MMH Facilities –
2121 hrs – The 2006 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner TUNCAY SAGUN 6 entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at MMH Facilities.
2123 hrs – The 2017 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner ULUKAN BALIKCILIK entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at MMH Facilities.
2126 hrs – The 2006 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner KARAHASANOGLU BALIK entered Grand Harbour from fishing grounds berthing at MMH Facilities.
2127 hrs – The 2006 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner CIHAN CENGIZ KARADENIZ entered Grand Harbour and berthed alongside TUNCAY SAGUN 6 at MMH Facilities.
2130 hrs – The 1999 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner AVCI BABA entered Grand Harbour and berthed alongside ULUCAN BALIKCILIK at MMH Facilities.
2131 hrs – The 1996 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner DURSUN CINAROGLU entered Grand Harbour berthing alongside CIHAN CENGIZ KARADENIZ at MMH Facilities.
2147 hrs – The 2020 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner KILIMOGLU 4 entered Grand Harbour berthing alongside AVCI BABA at MMH Facilities.
Tuesday 8th June –
1325 hrs – The 1993 built LBY flag and owned purse seiner ALBAHR ALHADER entered Grand Harbour coming from Khoms, Libya for the first time berthing at the old fisheries.
2246 hrs – The 2014 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner BOZOGLU KARDESLER 3 entered Grand Harbour berthing at Wine Wharf.
2308 hrs – The 1997 built TUR flag and owned purse seiner MUZAFFER KARDESLER 3 entered Grand Harbour berthing at Wine Wharf.
Wednesday 9th June –
0755 hrs – The 1968 built tug LANGUEDOC 7 was berthed at DWQ 1 uplifting bunkers and mobilising for the BFT Season. She left Valletta at 1131 hrs.
1023 hrs – The 1987 built LBY flag and owned purse seiner EL HADER 2 entered Grand Harbour, uplifted bunkers by road truck and left harbour again at 1149 hrs bound to fishing grounds.
1046 hrs – The Turkish flag and owned purse seiner MUZAFFER KARDESLER 3 and BOZOGLU KARDESLER 3 shifted from Wine Wharf towards MMH Facilities.
1110 hrs – The Turkish owned purse seiner BOZOGLU KARDESLER 2 was spotted shifting around for upliftng bunkers and stores of which she finally left at 1504 hrs.
During the day there were lot of shifting within Laboratory/Magazine Wharf area due to uplifting bunkers by BAWA-1 and the entry of a ro/ro vessel.
1738 hrs – The 1995 built MLT flag and owned stern trawler ZEUS entered Grand Harbour coming from Licata, Sicily berthing at her berth ( P Point).
The 8 Turkish purse seiners berthed at the MMH Facilities left Harbour – 2026hrs – BOZOGLU KARDESLER 3; 2029 hrs – MUZAFFER KARDESLER 3; 2218 hrs – KARAHASANOGLU BALIK ; 2219 hrs – DURSUN CINAROGLU; 2220 hrs – ULUCAN BALIKCILIK ; 2220 hrs – CIHAN CENCIZ KARADENIZ; 2221 hrs – TUNCAY SAGUN 6 and at 2222 hrs – AVCI BABA.
Thursday 10th June –
0230 – The 2006 built CYP flag and owned purse seiner ALKYA left Grand Harbour.
0243 hrs – The Albanian purse seiners ROZAFA 15 and ROZAFA 23 left Grand Harbour from Barriera Wharf on anchors bound to fishing grounds.
0708 hrs – The 2018 built DZA flag and owned purse seiner SID MAAMAR left Grand Harbour from Church Wharf bound to fishing grounds.
1031 hrs – 3 Turkish purse Seiners MARGO HUSEYN; KOROGLU BALIKCILIK A and AKGUN BALIKCILIK 3 together with fish carrier GUNDOGAN BALIKCILIK I completed uplifting bunkers at Bunkering Area 4.
Meanwhile 6 other fishing vessels were awaiting – Fish Carrier AKGUN BALIKCILIK A; 2000 built purse seiner AZIZLER II; 2019 built purse seiner BURAK YAGIZ; 2004 built purse seiner MUSTAFA REIS BALIKC; 1987 built purse seiner TOKERLER II and the 1988 built purse seiner TUNCAY SAGUN 7.
2238 hrs – The French purse seiners sisters SAINT SOPHIE FRANCOISE II and III left Grand Harbour from DWQ 2.
Friday 11th June –
0009 hrs – The 4 French purse seiners JEAN MARIE CHRISTIAN III, IV, VI and VII left Grand Harbour from DWQ 1.
0044 hrs – The Algerian purse seiners BORHANE-1 and SERAJ left Grand Harbour from Church Wharf.
Saturday 12th June –
2144 hrs – The 2003 built EGY Flag and owned purse seiner SAFINAT NOOH left Grand Harbour.
Sunday 13th June –
1357 hrs – The 2006 built CYP flag and owned purse seiner ALKYA left Grand Harbour.
