The Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service (RMAS) was a British Government agency which ran a variety of auxiliary vessels for Her Majesty’s Naval Service including Royal Navy, Royal Marines and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) from 1976 to 2008. One of the former Clovelly Class Fleet Tender HOLMWOOD ex RMAS HOLMWOOD A 1772 was seen in Malta in 2007 moored at Manoel Island Marina.

She was built in 1973 at Richard Dunston (Hessle) Ltd, Hessle at East Yorkshire with displacement of 128 tons. She was 24 metres long with 6.4 metres wide and powered by a single Lister Blackstone 4 Cylinder Diesel engine with maximum speed of 10.5 knots. Spending 4 years here at Malta HOLMWOOD went to Hardstanding Facilities at Marsaxlokk Harbour on 28th June 2011 for refit and survey before leaving Malta bound to UK. She left Malta on the 4th August 2011 via Mazara Del Vallo Ibiza, Gibraltar, Casacais in Portugal and Bayonne in France arriving at Plymouth Sound, UK on 3rd September 2011.
