On Friday 23rd March the 2008 built ropax CUIDAD DE MAHON entered Grand Harbour, Malta for the first time passing breakwaters at 1413 hrs coming from Valencia, Spain , calling to Palumbo Malta Shipyards , straight to Dock 4.
She was built in Spain at Hijos de J. Barreras S.A, Vigo with yard number 1654 as VOLCAN DE TIJARAFE for Naviera Armas (ESP) until 2018 and until 2021 with Transmeditteranea (ESP).
In 2021 GRIMALDI TRANSMED was founded and she remained with the same name until April, 2022 where she was renamed as CUIDAD DE MAHON homeported at Santa Cruz De Tenerife (CNI).
She’s 154.51 metres long (loa) with 24.20 m beam with a passenger capacity for 966 including 206 berths. She also has 1,057 lane metres of car deck with 300 max CEU’s.
Early of February 2024 it was stated that the ropax will move to Spanish competitor Baleària on a bareboat charter that is understood to last 5 years.
She left Valletta last Sunday 3rd March passing breakwaters at 1041 hrs bound to Valencia, Spain again.
