The Port of Haifa is the largest of Israel’s three major international seaports, the others being the Port of Ashdod, and the Port of Eilat. It has a natural deep water harbor, which operates all year long, and serves both passenger and merchant ships. It is one of the largest ports in the eastern Mediterranean in terms of freight volume and handles about 30 million tons of cargo per year (not including Israel Shipyards’ port).
Here are some of the interesting shipping movements for the month of February, 2022 –
2nd February – On completion of the 353 metres containership MAERSK HOUSTON sailing to Koper, Slovenia the 2005 built 325 metres containership MSC RITA entered harbour taking her place for loading/discharging before proceeding to New York, USA –
And the 2006 built 238 metre boxship NAVIOS SUMMER was seen berthed at the Chinese Harbour.
8th February – The 2005 built 332 metre container ship MSC RANIA left Haifa bound to New York, USA.
10th February – The United States Navy Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer USS JASON DUNHAM DDG 109 arrived to Haifa from Djibouti.
13th February – The above destroyer left port after a 3 day diplomatic visit.
26th February – The 2005 built general cargo ship LADY MELIKE entered port coming from Nemrut, Turkey.
28th February – The 2020 built 229 metre bulker BW OSAKA left Haifa after 5 days discharging bound to Gibraltar
