The Port of Haifa is the largest of Israel’s three major international seaports, the others being the Port of Ashdod, and the Port of Eilat. It has a natural deep water harbor, which operates all year long, and serves both passenger and merchant ships. It is one of the largest ports in the eastern Mediterranean in terms of freight volume and handles about 30 million tons of cargo per year (not including Israel Shipyards’ port).
Here are some of the interesting shipping movements for the month of January, 2022 –
8th January – The 2001 built 277 metre long mother ship ZIM HAIFA entering Haifa.
13th January – The Hellenic Navy Elli Class Frigate F 462 HS KOUNTOURISTIS entered port. She’s a former Dutch Navy Kortenaer Class Frigate and was commissioned into the Hellenic Navy in 1997.
15th January – The 2017 built MHL flag offshore support vessel NOR NAOMI returned back home from Limassol, Cyprus.
Around noon the 2009 built 262 metre long mother ship ZIM ATLANTIC arrived empty at Haifa from Ambarli, Turkey.
Also the 2007 built 283 metre long mother ship MSC CAROUGE entered Haifa arriving from Ashdod, Israel.
18th January – In the morning an Israeli Navy Saar 6 Corvette INS OZ was spotted leaving Haifa.
20th January – Early afternoon the departure of the 1979 built roro ship HATAY. She’s one of the former Mercandian’s ships – MERCANDIAN CARRIER II.
21st January – Both CONTSHIP JOY (Green Hull) a 140 metre 2007 built feeder container ship and ADMIRAL MOON a 139 metre 2008 built feeder container ship were spotted berthed during operations at the Chinese Terminal operated by the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG).
Meanwhile 39 ships were spotted awaiting orders –
And early afternoon the arrival of the 2018 built and 353 metre long mega ship MAERSK HANOI for container operations.
25th January – The 2005 built and 260 metre container ship CSCL BRISBANE left harbour bound to Iskenderun, Turkey.
29th January – The 2009 built and 260 metre container ship ZIM MONACO left harbour.
