The 1982 built ropax MOBY ZAZA owned by Moby Lines SpA was awarded the tender of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transports to face the accommodation emergency related to sea rescue with illegal immigration.

On Sunday 10th May around 0200 hrs she arrived at Porto Empedocle with checks and controls followed by the Harbour Authorities coordinated by the commander Gennaro Fusco. She will provide an isolated area with COVID-19 symptoms with spaces for 35 for personnel in health care.

On Sunday 17th March the ropax arrived off Lampedusa where 68 illegal immigrants that arrived during the weekend at Cala Madonna Area with a wooden boat that left Tunisia including 26 woman and 2 children.

Aboard there was 53 other immigrants that were transferred from Lampedusa to Porto Empedocle

Later today she left Lampedusa bound to anchor off Porto Empedocle, Sicily.
