The 14-day quarantine period has ended for the illegal immigrants aboard the ropax RAFFAELE RUBATTINO that was anchored off Palermo. They have all tested negative twice for coronavirus.

The 183 migrants were rescued by the NGO ships ALAN KURDI and AITA MARI who presently are berthed also inside Palermo Port.

They were transferred on the ropax watched by various Law Enforcement Marine Units – see also 19th April news – https://maltashipnews.com/2020/04/21/illegal-immigration-180-rescued-migrants-quarantined-on-board-ropax-off-palermo-19-04-2020/

The future of all 183 migrants amongst them 44 unaccompanied minors and two women is as yet unknown and it is expected they will be shared between various EU states, some of whom signed a pact to ease the pressure on frontline arrival states like Italy, Malta, Spain and Greece, by sharing out those rescued between them.
