During the late 40’s some local merchants operated various steamers including Mediterranean Trading Shipping Co. Ltd that was established in 1946. The company, which is essentially a family run business, began with a fleet of 6 vessels and is proud to have been the first company in Malta to hoist the Maltese Maritime flag in 1947.
During 1955 the 297 GRT vessel was acquired from a Norwegian Company with the name of TROLLFJELL and was renamed to ANGELA and finally to ANGELABELLA. She was built in 1944 at Middlesborough, UK. She served the company until 1974 of which she was renamed as NAHED.
