On Sunday 30th May, 2021 the 28 metre Twin Screw Azimuthing Ulstein Z-Peller Stern Drive Tugboat LIENI left Grand Harbour breakwaters for the last time at 0616 hrs bound to Augusta, Sicily.

She was built in 1991 as GOLDEN PHOENIX TUG by Tai Kong Trading Company, Singapore as yard number TK-178 commissioned on 18th February 1991. On 3rd April 1991 she was sold to Tug Malta, arriving at the Grand Harbour on 18th June 1991 and was renamed LIENI in Tug Malta Blue livery.



She was involved in various towages such as – Towing the former Gozo Channel Line ferry XLENDI from Valletta to Xatt L-Ahmar, Gozo for scuttling operation back to 12th November, 1999






Assisting the semi-submersible drilling rig (ssdr) ATWOOD SOUTHERN CROSS leaving Grand Harbour back to 20th November, 2005 –

Assisting the heavy load carrier ZHEN HUA 1, avoiding her to ground herself at St. Angelo Point while entering back to 11th September, 2006 –

Towing the 95 metre superyacht INDIAN EMPRESS assisted by tug PAWLINA from Manoel Island Marina to Malta Drydocks back to 29th October, 2007 –



Towing the disabled cargo ship FRAU NANCY from offshore Malta towards Malta Shipyards back to 24th April, 2007 –








In 2009 her livery was changed to orange colour following acquisition of Tug Malta by Rimorchiatori Riuniti SpA, Genoa, Italy.




On 7th February, 2011 she got her Bollard Pull Certificate – 35.56 Ahead and 32.83 Astern tonnes with 1,200 Shaft RPM.
She was seen also at Mgarr Harbour, Gozo – Here assisting the coaster MINSTREL back to 9th March, 2016 –

On Monday 31st May, 2021 around 1300 hrs she shifted from Augusta Bay on anchors to alongside the Cantiere Navale Tringali Srl 1,7501 tons floating dock FRANCESCO-T.
