On Thursday 28th November, 2024 the Turkish built and Greek owned ASD tugboat IRAKLIS Z passed breakwaters at 1508 hrs with a harbour pilot aboard during her maiden call.

Built by Sanmar Shipyards, Turkey with technical cooperation with the Canadian naval architects, Robert Allan Limited, she was built and delivered in 2015 as CIVITAVECCHIA of which we saw her at Malta in October 2016 while towing the barge UR 2.

With 32 m long (loa), 13.2 m beam and an extreme draft of 6.4 m she is powered by two MAN 7L27/38 main engines each developing 2,555 kW at 800 revolutions per minute. These turn Rolls-Royce type US25 CP Z-drive azimuth thrusters with propellers of 2,800 millimeters diameter via solid shafts with two Cardan joints. The propellers turn inside mild steel nozzles. The designers state that in addition to a forward bollard pull of greater than 85 metric tons, the free-running speed is in excess of 13 knots.

Berthing at DWQ 3 for few hours she left Valletta at 1741 hrs bound to Bejaia, Algeria

Vessel was represented in Malta by KS Shipping Malta  – https://ksshippingmalta.com/which they are our SPONSORS too for a lifetime.
