An interesting flotilla made up of 10 Chinese Bottom Trawlers made history in the Maltese Islands as being the first ever Chinese Fishing Vessels especially Bottom Trawlers to enter Grand Harbour, Malta.
First one to pass breakwater (0741 hrs)was the 2021 built 28.61 metres Bottom Trawler YUAN YU 709 built at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Weihai, China completed on 11th August,2021.
With Radio Callsign as BZV2D and homeported at Qin Huang Dao (CHN) she proceeded to Wine Wharf.
Second one was the 2021 built 28.61 metres Bottom Trawler YUAN YU 710 passing breakwaters at 0744 hrs. She was also built at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Weihai, China completed on 20th August,2021.
With Radio Callsign as BZV3D and homeported at Qin Huang Dao (CHN) she proceeded to Wine Wharf astern to 709.
Once secured stores from Salvo Grima and uplifting bunkers by Premier Fuels were done.
Bunkers was completed and she left few hours later passing breakwaters at 1148 hrs.
And the third one was the 2021 built 28.61 metres Bottom Trawler YUAN YU 717 passing breakwaters at 0748 hrs. She was also built at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Weihai, China completed on 20th August,2021.
With Radio Callsign as BZV7D and homeported at Qin Huang Dao (CHN) she proceeded to Wine Wharf berthing alongside 710.
Like her sisters once she was secured stores from Salvo Grima and uplifting bunkers by Premier Fuels were done.
She left few hours later upon completing of uplifting bunkers and passed breakwaters at 1144 hrs.
All vessels were berthed at Wine Wharf, part of Valletta Cruise Port.
