On Thursday 30th March the High Speed Craft SAN FRANGISK had to abort the 1645 hrs voyage just outside Mgarr Harbour breakwater due to an exhaust problem in the engine room that caused a thick smoke.

As a precaution all passengers were evacuated onto smaller craft including Galaxy Charters Malta Boat CHIKO.

At no time there was any fire and at 1651 hrs the Civil Protection Department Hydrolift P42 fireboat MANUCCA was seen leaving Grand Harbour bound to the accident area. At the same time Transport Malta Enforcement Officers who were at Sliema Creek rushed to the area too.

Few minutes later an AFM AW139 helicopter was seen flying.

The service was back on schedule with Virtu Gozo apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
