Between Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November 2001, the 1968 built ship MARWA M homeported at Nuku Alofa, Tonga decided to seek shelter in the Comino Channel when it is against the law due to bad weather conditions with North Westerly Wind Force 7-8.

On Sunday 25th November 2001, she was spotted by the AFM Swift Class Patrol Craft P 23 of which the situation went worst after the vessel dropped her anchors and damaged the electric cable lying on the seabed.

MARWA M was built in 1968 by Slovenske Lodenice Komarno at Slovakia as TUAPSE until 1994 as Kaliningrad type and traded as JULIUS until 1999 of which she was renamed SEA WALKER until September 2001 and renamed as MARWA M until May 2006 bearing imo as 8872502.

During the second quarter of 2002 Enemalta Corporation replaced the fibre optic cable which was manufactured by Pirelli in Naples and was laid down by the 1983 built Italian flag and owned cable layer GIULIO VERNE.
