Currently at the Gozo port of Mgarr, Gozo , works are underway to improve facilities, particularly for fishermen. The project is during an investment of €6 million and will include further berthing facilities for fishing boats.

For Gozo Channel passengers, Mġarr is a port where the ship to Gozo terminates her voyage as well as serving as a yacht marina. However, it is also a fishing port for the Gozitan fishing community. Infrastructure Malta stated that – ‘Through this €6 million project, we are rebuilding the quays, pontoons and other facilities.

The new project will also include a dredging clean up of the sea bottom, work on the quays and the laying of pontoons for an additional 90 berthing.

Dredging works with Bezzina Maritime Services Crane Barge BEZZ V together with E. Marine split hopper barge PAULUS on Thursday 20th February 2020.

And below works spotted back to Friday 6th March, 2020

New pontoons, quays and slipways for fisherman and yachting enthusiasts have been built in an EU-funded scheme. Also Transport Malta Aquastar model launch TmOne was spotted performing a survey last Friday 6th March, 2020.
