Thursdays are always busy at the Valletta Cruise Port with Cruise Liner OCEANA (P&O) but last Thursday 3rd October Malta Cruise Services a division of Mifsud Brothers Ltd (MBL) had to deal with 2 liners , the other one was the 2016 built ship KONINGSDAM of Holland America Line.
Cruise and Fly holidays, launched by Malta International Airport (MIA) allow passengers to fly from their choice of destination to Malta, where they are immediately transferred to their awaiting cruise ship at the Grand Harbour like OCEANA. After their relaxing cruise holiday, passengers are then transferred back to the airport to catch their homeward flight.
An average of 2,000 passengers are expected to depart and arrive for their Malta to Malta service, which means that around 4,000 people will be using the airport’s facilities within a 6-hour turnaround.
While OCEANA destination was Piraeus, Greece, KONINGSDAM destination was Naples, Italy.
