NATO’s Submarine Warfare Exercise DYNAMIC MANTA 2019 (DYMA 19) naval assets started building up for the exercise off the Sicilian coast. DYNAMIC MANTA remains to be one of the most challenging exercises for NATO. It provides NATO nations’ with an excellent opportunity for their forces to practice together in a pure joint environment and simultaneously provides NATO the ability to evaluate and further develop Allied Anti-Submarine tactics.
Thursday 21st February 2019 – At Siracusa
Italian Navy Alpino Class FREMM ( Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) ITS ALPINO F 594 and French Navy FREMM ( Fregate Europeene Multi Mission) Frigate FS AUVERGNE D 654 entered Siracusa (Syracuse).
Thursday 21st February 2019 – At Augusta.
French Navy Durance Class Replenishment Ship FS VAR A 608 entered.
The Turk Deniz Kuvvetleri (Turkish Navy) Preveze (Type 209/1400) Class Submarine TCG GUR S 357 entered.

The Armada Espanola (Spanish Navy) Galerna (Agosta) Class Submarine ESPS TRAMONTANA S 74 entered.
The Marina Militare (Italian Navy) Todaro (Type 212A) Class Submarine ITS SCIRE S 527 entered.
The Hellenic Navy ( Greek Navy) Papanikolis (Type 214) Class Submarine HS PAPANIKOLIS S 120 entered.
Thursday 21st February, 2018 – Catania.
The Canadian Navy Halifax Class Frigate HMCS TORONTO FFH 333 entered.
The Armada Espanola (Spanish Navy) Alvaro De Bazan Class Frigate ESPS BLAS DE LEZO F 103 entered.

Friday 22nd February, 2019 – Catania.
The Koninklijke Marine (Royal Netherlands Navy) De Zeven Provincien Class Frigate Hr Ms EVERTSEN F 805 entered.
The Turk Deniz Kuvvetleri (Turkish Navy) Gabya (Oliver Hazard Perry) Class Frigate TCG GELIBOLU F 493 entered port berthing starboard side alongside the Dutch frigate..
The Armada Espanola (Spanish Navy) Santa Maria Class Frigate ESPS SANTA MARIA F 81 entered port berthing starboard side alongside the Turkish Navy.
The Hellenic Navy ( Greek Navy) Elli (Kortenaer) Class Frigate HS ELLI F 490 entered berthing at Molo Levante.
The host nation Italy is providing support from the Augusta Naval Base, Catania Harbour and the Sigonella Air Base in Catania with all aircraft to operate from Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella under the control of personnel from NATO Maritime Air Command (MARAIRNATO).
All maritime assets left harbours to the exercise are on Monday 24th February, 2019.
