The Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer HMS Duncan D 37 left Cartagena, Spain  of which she was there on Wednesday 12th June coming from Larnaca, Cyprus of which she took part in a Cypriot humanitarian exercise to take part in Operation Sea Guardian and conducting NATO security patrols in the Mediterranean.

The aim of the operation is to combat illegal activities, mitigating security threats, including terrorism related, in the region.

HMS Duncan D 37 is working alongside NATO maritime patrol aircraft, with members of her boarding team conducting visits to private and commercial vessels at sea. This is to gather information on patterns of life and identify any security concerns.  In fact Royal Marines from 42 Commando’s Juliet Company have been trained to board and search as part of the destroyer role in providing maritime security.

On Thursday 21st June 2019 around 0915 hrs she conducted a conveyance service off Grand Harbour, Malta.
