2 Russian navy tugs of Project 16609 built at Pella Shipyard, Otradny in 2014 RB-406 and RB-407 were seen in Malta as deck cargo aboard the heavy lift vessel WIEBKE entering Grand Harbour on Tuesday 7th October 2014.

Both with 29.44 metres long and 10.14 metres beam with maximum draft of 4 metres , RB-406 had yard number as 625 launched on 8th November 2013 and commissioned on 28th May 2014 while RB-407 had yard number as 626 launched on 14th May,2014 and commissioned on 29th August, 2014.

They belong to the Pacific Fleet (7 tugs in all) and were being transferred to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Naval Base through the Suez Canal as deck cargo. The ferry trip took around 50 days
