On Friday 17th February, 2007 at 1446 hrs the United States Navy Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate USS TAYLOR FFG 50 entered Grand Harbour, Malta for a 4 day Diplomatic Visit assisted by 2 Tug Malta tugs FELICA and PAWLINA.

Ship is named for Commander Jesse J. Taylor (1925–1965), a naval aviator who was awarded the Navy Cross posthumously for his heroism in the Vietnam War. Keel was laid down by Bath Iron Works Corp., Bath, Maine, on 5th May, 1983. She was launched on 5th November, 1983, and commissioned on 1st December, 1984 in Bath, Maine. USS TAYLOR was sponsored by Barbara A. Taylor, the widow of the ship’s namesake, and Diane Taylor-Oeland as matron of honor.

Malta Ship Photos was invited for a ship tour aboard whilst berthed on Sunday 19th February 2007 –

She also had 2 x SH-60 B Seahawk helicopters embarked whilst inside her hangar.

She left harbour on Tuesday 21st February, 2007 at 0919 hrs.
