On Saturday 5th August, 2023 the 2009 built 6th generation, semi submersible drilling oil rig (ssdr) TRANSOCEAN BARENTS was spotted approaching Bunkering Area 4, Malta as scheduled.
Upon completion of her position at Bunkering Area 4 the only self propelled sheerlegs in the Maltese Islands – SEAWOLF II, towing a barge that left Medserv Base at Marsaxlokk Harbour at 1736 hrs, placed the barge alongside so she can start uplifting bunkers.
The hull section of the rig TRANSOCEAN BARENTS was built by Drydocks World Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the top side and complete rig was built in Norway by Aker Stord at Stord as the AKER BARENTS. She started drilling in 2009 for oil and gas on the Norwegian continental shelf.
On 26 October 2012, Transocean Offshore Ltd NUF received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the ssdr TRANSOCEAN BARENTS. She’s a 6th generation semi-submersible drilling rig, type H-6E.
She is owned and operated by Transocean Norway, headquartered in Stavanger.
After she made several crew changes/stores and provisions via conveyance boats, Cassar Marine Services Group tugboat SEA BUFFALO remained guarding her.
She left Malta on Tuesday 8th August after 2100 hrs bound to Beirut, Lebanon.
