SAIPEM S.p.A. (Società Anonima Italiana Perforazioni E Montaggi) is an Italian multinational oilfield services company and one of the largest in the world. Until 2016 it was a subsidiary of Italian oil and gas supermajor Eni, which still retains approximately 30% of Saipem’s shares.

Within three weeks 3 vessels were seen in Central Mediterranean Sea –

On Tuesday 21st April, 2020 at 1020 hrs the 2011 Semi Submersible Drilling Rig (SSDR) SCARABEO 9 passed 47.8 nautical miles off Malta underway to Las Palmas. She is a Frigstad D90 type ultra Deepwater 6th Generation ssdr . She was named by Anna Tatka, the wife of Pietro Franco Tali, CEO of Saipem.

Below is the video of SCARABEO 9 crossing the Bosphorus strait passing under three Istanbul bridges connecting the two sides of the city after she left the Black Sea after months of operation in Romania.

Then the 1984 built crane ship SAIPEM 3000 coming from Limassol, Cyprus when she was seen at OPL Malta on Tuesday 28th April, 2020.

She entered Medserv Base at Marsaxlokk Harbour on Thursday 7th May,2020 at 0013 hrs.

She left Marsaxlokk, Malta bound to Motril, Spain same day on Thursday 7th May, 2020 at 2051 hrs.

Meanwhile the 2000 built 228 metres long drillship SAIPEM 10000 is at Palermo.
