On Wednesday 17th February, 2021 the 2002 built container ship ATLANTIC NORTH entered Grand Harbour, Malta bound to Factory Wharf at Palumbo Malta Shipyard.
On Saturday 20th February she was spotted afloat in Dock 4 with bow afloat repairs. She was involved in an accident in Bejaia, Algeria back to last 5th December 2020 when the container ship VEGA SIGMA while unmooring she was disabled due to electric failure, and struck the berthed nearby container ship ATLANTIC NORTH, in the midst of cargo operations. Port mobile crane which was handling container on board of the said ATLANTIC NORTH, overturned, with crane operator had to be taken to hospital. It wasn’t all – understood ATLANTIC NORTH moved alongside berth and contacted berthed bulk carrier OWL.

She was built in Poland by Gdynia Shipyard at Gdynia in 2002 as CAPE SERRAT for few months and in July 2002 she was chartered as MOL SAHARA trading until October 2002 where she was renamed again as CAPE SERRAT. In December 2004 she was renamed as DOVER STRAIT and from 2015 to 2018 she was trading as MAX CARRIER. Since 2018 she’s trading as ATLANTIC NORTH. In fact she calls at Malta Freeport too.
